An already fragile supply of red blood cells has been depleted. Our community is now in an extremely critical shortage of all blood types and Lifeblood is asking all eligible donors to help stabilize the community blood supply and support local hospitals. All donor centers are open Saturday (Bartlett, East Memphis, Germantown, Southaven are open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Midtown is open 8 a.m. to noon). Lifeblood is opening for emergency hours on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, January 19, at their Bartlett, East Memphis, Germantown and Southaven locations. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Lifeblood’s East Memphis location at 4934 Poplar is closing Saturday, January 31. We will reopen in our new location, 4702 SPOTTSWOOD on Monday, March 2. The new location is in the Audubon Place shopping center, between Dan McGuinness and Williams-Sonoma.
Does your New Year’s resolution include donating with Lifeblood? It should! Each blood donation can save up to three lives. The time you spend at Lifeblood can give a patient hours, days or even years to spend with their loved ones. This year, we’re asking you to pledge to donate just one more time than you did in 2014.
When you give, through February 28, you’ll receive a 2015 Lifeblood Donor T-shirt.
Right now our community is experiencing a shortage of all types, and we need your help. Every blood type is important when it comes to maintaining a stable blood supply. Patients in local hospitals count on Lifeblood’s volunteer donors.
Walk-ins are welcome so stop by a donor center or mobile drive today! For more information about donor center hours visit http://www.lifeblood.org/?page_id=6
January has been designated as National Blood Donor Month. This month is a special time to emphasize the importance of blood donation, to recognize past and present donors and to encourage donors to give blood and platelets for local patients in need.
Winter can be a difficult time for blood donations across the country as a reduction in turnout can put local and national blood inventories at a critical low.
Do something good for the community and donate blood this month!
Did you know that 90% of everyone who lives in the Mid-South will need a blood transfusion before they turn 70? Unfortunately, less than 10% of the population actually donates.
Visit a Lifeblood donor center or mobile event today and bring along a friend. Together, you can save up to six lives in under an hour.
