Make plans now to join us for DonorFest 2012!

Mark your calendar! It’s coming up soon, and it’s all new this year! This year’s DonorFest will be a week-long celebration from June 11-16 with a goal of collecting 1500 units of blood. Monday through Friday, the centers will be open extended hours and have food and a different theme each day.

We will end the week on Saturday, June 16 with a picnic and party at Audubon Park from 11am to 3pm. At the park there will be kids’ activities, hot dogs, Yo Lo truck, snow cones, live music and a donor recognition program.

Platelet Shortage
Platelet Shortage

Due to a dip in the community’s supply of platelets, Lifeblood is in need of platelet donors.  The need is so great, in part because, while whole blood has a 42-day shelf life, platelets last only 5 days from date of collection.

Platelets are small, sticky cells in the blood that control bleeding and are vitally important when treating burn patients, chemotherapy patients, organ transplant recipients and victims of trauma.

Those interested in donating can schedule an appointment at any of Lifeblood’s donation centers to give platelets.

Feel Helpless? You’re Not. Give blood.

Did you know that 90% of everyone who lives in the Mid-South will need a blood transfusion before they turn 70? Unfortunately, less than 10% of the population actually donates.

Visit a Lifeblood donor center or mobile event today and bring along a friend. Together, you can save up to six lives in under an hour.

Without your help, someone’s father, someone’s wife, someone’s child simply won’t make it
